The Green Standard is a UK horticultural brand built around one idea: gardens deserve proper standards — in workmanship, in materials, and in the choices made over time.

We work hands-on in gardens on the Isle of Wight, and we’ve built this online shop to reflect the same approach we bring to the properties we maintain: considered decisions, professional judgement, and quality that lasts.

The Green Standard Selection

This shop is a curated range of high-end tools and garden essentials — items I would genuinely recommend to clients and use myself. Not endless catalogue stock, not trend-led buys: just well-made products chosen for performance, durability, and long-term value.

Where possible, we prioritise makers and materials that stand up to real use, season after season.

Meet the founder

I’m Alan Jones, founder of The Green Standard. I’m a working gardener — maintaining gardens week in, week out, improving problem areas, and producing planting plans that look good and stay looking good.

This shop is simply an extension of that work. Every item is selected with the same criteria I use in clients’ gardens: reliability, build quality, and results. If I wouldn’t recommend it with confidence, it doesn’t make the cut.
